I am blessed by my 32 year marriage to Francesca and by the family we have raised together. Yet there are committed and loving couples for whom marriage is not an option, simply because of their gender. Imagine calling a hospital and being refused information because you are not recognized as a "family member" of your partner of many years, or being unable to file the joint tax returns or write the joint wills that couples of opposite gender take for granted.

This is discrimination, and it is time for our society to recognize what is right. It is time for the majority to stand with, rather than against, the same-sex couples who strengthen our communities and our commonwealth.

I support full marriage equality for all Pennsylvanians. As Governor, I will stand up and speak out in support of legislation in the Pennsylvania Senate to make it a reality.
